2026 Honda Civic Hatchback

2026 Honda
Civic Hatchback

Although the Civic was made in hatchback form when it came to the United States in 1972, not every model year in more recent times has offered this body style. Well, fans of easy-access cargo space are glad that it’s been back in the fold for quite a while now. With its 24.5-cubic-foot cargo area, the Civic Hatchback is not just more practical for those who tend to carry more than the average amount of stuff, but it has a look that many beholders consider edgier and more sport-forward. For 2026, it once again comes in a simplified three-trim lineup, with a gas-only powertrain for the base version and a gas-electric upgrade for the two higher trims. No matter which one you select, you’ll get a well-equipped and efficient car that won’t break the bank. The inclusion of the Honda Service Pass complimentary maintenance program adds to that value by covering the first year’s tire rotations, oil changes, and more.

This page covers both the hybrid and strictly gas versions of the 2026 Civic Hatchback. If you’re looking for details on the Civic Sedan, the Civic Sedan Hybrid, the Civic Si, or the Civic Type R, please look for our separate overviews for those variants.

Trims and Powertrains

The 2026 Civic Hatchback’s three trims are called Sport, Sport Hybrid, and Sport Touring Hybrid. The Sport is the only one that isn’t a hybrid; it has a 150-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Although the other trims use the same engine, it’s supplemented by an electric motor that boosts total horsepower to 200. A front-wheel drivetrain (FWD) and a continuously variable transmission (CVT) are found on every trim. The EPA has estimated that the Sport will achieve 30 mpg in city driving and 38 mpg on the highway, while the gas-electric trims rise to 50 mpg city/45 mpg highway.

Standard Features

The Sport is a relatively simple trim, getting cloth-clad seats, push-button ignition, proximity keyless entry, LED exterior lighting, single-zone auto climate control, rear-seat HVAC ducts, heated power-adjustable exterior mirrors, a 7-inch driver information display, an electric parking brake, two-speed intermittent windshield wipers, a pair of USB ports, a leather-wrapped shift knob, and gloss-black 18-inch wheels.

The Sport Hybrid adds another auto climate-control zone plus heated front seats, an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a power-sliding moonroof, variable intermittent wipers, and a rear-seat center armrest with cup holders. At the top of this trio, the Sport Touring Hybrid ratchets up the comfort quotient with leather seats, wireless device charging, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a four-way power-adjustable passenger seat, a 10.2-inch driver information display, rain-sensing wipers, heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Driver-Assist Features

Honda Sensing, the proprietary safety technology bundle, graces all three Civic Hatchback trims. This important safety array consists of automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, forward collision warning, collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic jam assist, traffic sign recognition, and rear-seat reminder. Also standard are a multi-angle backup camera with dynamic guidelines, a set of airbags, stability and traction control, and anti-lock brakes. The Sport Touring Hybrid alone receives front and rear parking sensors with automatic low-speed braking.

Staying Informed and Connected

The two lower trims manage their multimedia through a 7-inch touchscreen, while the Sport Touring Hybrid moves up to a 9-inch Google built-in system with Alexa and access to a Wi-Fi hotspot. All Civic Hatchbacks are set up with Bluetooth, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (wireless in the top trim), and HondaLink. The Sport and Sport Hybrid get an unbranded sound system with eight speakers while the Sport Touring Hybrid is improved with a Bose unit that has 12 speakers and a subwoofer.
