While the 21st century has seen the rise of crossovers and SUVs, one sedan has remained steadfast in its mission of delivering comfort and value: the Honda Accord. In its tenth generation, the conventional Accord remains a trusted transportation partner for those who prefer four doors and a trunk, but the gas-electric version, the Accord Hybrid, adds the bonus of truly outstanding fuel efficiency, achieving as much as 48 miles to the gallon. Its five-person interior is a spacious and upscale, with a great deal of standard features for convenience and even a bit of luxury. For 2022, the Accord Hybrid adds the Sport trim, which provides a nice balance of upgrades with the basics. This overview covers the Accord Hybrid; the gasoline-only Accord is detailed on its own page.

Trims and Powertrain

Accord buyers seeking to take advantage of proven Honda hybrid technology can choose from four trims: Hybrid (which we’ll refer to as Base), Hybrid Sport, Hybrid EX-L, and Hybrid Touring. All versions are powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a hybrid electric motor for a combined output of 212 horsepower and 232 lb.-ft. of torque. Front-wheel drive and a continuously variable transmission (CVT) are the other constants.
The ’22 Accord Hybrid’s fuel economy as rated by the EPA is 48 mpg around town and 47 mpg on the highway for the Base and EX-L. Those numbers change to 44 city/41 highway for the Sport and Touring.

Standard Features

Even the entry-level Accord Hybrid comes with a full roster of standard equipment: LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, proximity keyless entry, automatic high beams, remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, a tilt and telescopic steering column, and a 60/40-split folding rear seat. Advanced driver aids are included with all trims (the details are covered below). The Sport adds LED fog lights, 19-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, sport pedals, a 12-way power driver’s seat, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The upscale EX-L drops some of the features of the Sport (the larger wheels, sport pedals, and rear spoiler) but adds a power moonroof, leather upholstery, heated front seats, a driver’s seat position memory system, a four-way power front passenger seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and wireless device charging. The Touring is loaded, getting an upgraded suspension, 19-inch alloy wheels, automatic windshield wipers, a head-up display, ventilated front seats, and heated rear outboard seats./p>

Advanced Safety Technology

All 2022 Accord Hybrids come with a collision mitigation braking system, forward collision warning, road departure mitigation system, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition system, and a rear-seat reminder. The EX-L and Touring also get blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert.

Infotainment Gear

Standard infotainment gear across the Accord Hybrid lineup includes an 8-inch color touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration (wireless on the Sport and above), Bluetooth connectivity, and multiple USB ports. The Sport trim and higher also receive SMS text messaging and SiriusXM satellite radio.
The base gets a 160-watt, four-speaker audio system, which is upgraded to 180 watts and eight speakers in the Sport. An upgraded 450-watt, ten-speaker system is included with the EX-L and Touring. The Touring also gets navigation, and access to a Wi-Fi hotspot and HondaLink subscription services.
