2020 Honda Odyssey
The Honda Odyssey is consistently a best-seller, and for a multitude of good reasons. It has tons of passenger and storage space, easy access to all three rows, and plenty of modern multimedia features—plus it’s loaded with advanced safety technology to increase the protection factor for all occupants. New for this year, all Odyssey models come standard with a 10-speed automatic transmission, which provides even smoother performance than in prior years. This is the ideal vehicle for families or individuals who often have a lot of passengers, as it seats up to eight comfortably and has loads of great entertainment features to keep everyone satisfied.
The ’20 Odyssey is available in five trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring, and Elite. Honda has stocked the base trim with plenty of great features: push-to-start ignition, illuminated steering wheel-mounted controls, a one-motion 60/40 split 3rd-row Magic Seat, rear privacy glass, a 160-watt sound system with seven speakers and a subwoofer, and Bluetooth streaming audio. The EX receives a significant upgrade, as it gets a package of driver-assistive technology, known as Honda Sensing, as well as heated front seats, power sliding doors, smart entry with walk-away auto lock, Magic Slide second-row seats, a blind spot information system, fog lights, an 8-inch high-resolution touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Next, the EX-L tacks on the HomeLink remote system, an automatic-dimming rearview mirror, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather-trimmed seats, a hands-free power tailgate, and memory-linked side mirrors with reverse gear tilt-down. Upgrading to the Touring trim adds CabinWatch/CabinTalk, HondaVAC, a rear-seat entertainment system, Honda satellite-linked navigation system with voice recognition and Honda HD digital traffic, and Wi-Fi hotspot capability. Finally, the top-tier Touring trim gets a 550-watt premium audio system with eleven speakers and a subwoofer, multi-zone audio, a wireless phone charger, blue ambient LED lighting, and heated and ventilated front seats.
All Odyssey models come standard with a 3.5-liter V6 engine paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. This family-sized vehicle delivers 280 horsepower and 262 lb.-ft. of torque: plenty of power to smoothly accelerate this mighty vehicle. Other standard mechanical features include an electronic parking brake with automatic brake hold, hill start assist, intelligent traction management (snow mode), and an Eco Assist system. Although it’s large, the Odyssey still gets respectable fuel economy. It has a 19.5-gallon fuel tank and gets an EPA-estimated 19 mpg city and 28 mpg highway, for a combined average of 22 mpg.
The Odyssey is loaded with tons of modern safety features. All models have brake assist, a multi-angle rearview camera, an Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure, and an advanced airbag system with SmartVent front-side airbags and three-row side curtain airbags with a rollover sensor. Honda Sensing becomes standard on the EX trim, bundling driver assistive technology such as a collision mitigation braking system, road departure mitigation system, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist system, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning.
